I didn't use Preseed lubricant but I used Conceive Plus fertility-friendly lubricant which is similar I believe. And on the first month we used it I fell pregnant - no idea whether it was this that particularly did the trick, but I am somewhat 'dryer' than other women so there's a chance it helped. What is the difference between Conceive Plus and Preseed fertility lubricants?

Both Conceive Plus and Preseed are sperm-friendly lubricants specifically designed for couples trying to conceive, as they don't harm sperm motility like regular lubricants can. Conceive Plus is ISO-osmotic and closely mimics natural cervical fluid, whilst Preseed is similarly formulated but may have slight variations in ingredients. Both are available in the UK and are considered equally effective options for couples who experience vaginal dryness during their fertility journey.

Does vaginal dryness affect fertility and conception chances?

Yes, vaginal dryness can potentially impact fertility as it may reduce the presence of natural cervical fluid that helps sperm travel to the egg. Using a fertility-friendly lubricant like Conceive Plus can help replicate this environment and support sperm motility. If you experience persistent dryness, it's worth discussing with your GP or a fertility specialist at an NHS clinic to rule out any underlying hormonal issues.

How long does it typically take to get pregnant when using fertility supplements?

Conception timescales vary greatly between individuals, with some couples conceiving in the first month and others taking longer. Fertility supplements containing Myo-Inositol may take several months to show their full benefits, as they work by supporting hormone balance and ovulation regularity over time. The NHS recommends seeking fertility advice if you've been trying unsuccessfully for 12 months (or 6 months if you're over 35).

What does Myo-Inositol do for fertility?

Myo-Inositol is a naturally occurring compound that helps regulate insulin levels and support healthy hormone balance, particularly benefiting those with PCOS or irregular ovulation. Clinical studies have shown that Myo-Inositol supplementation can improve egg quality and increase ovulation regularity in women trying to conceive. It's particularly recommended by fertility specialists as a first-line supplement before pursuing more invasive fertility treatments.

Is it safe to use fertility supplements alongside NHS fertility treatments?

Many fertility supplements are considered safe to use alongside NHS treatments, but it's essential to inform your fertility clinic or consultant at your local NHS hospital about any supplements you're taking. Some supplements may interact with medications or affect test results, so your healthcare team should review your complete supplement regimen. Always consult your GP or fertility specialist before starting any new supplement when undergoing fertility treatment.

Should I track ovulation when using fertility lubricants and supplements?

Yes, tracking ovulation can help you time intercourse optimally and work alongside fertility supplements and lubricants. You can track ovulation using ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature, or cervical mucus observation—all methods available to purchase in the UK. Many fertility apps and NHS resources provide guidance on natural fertility awareness methods, which are particularly useful when combining supplements with conception planning.

Where can I find HFEA-regulated fertility products in the UK?

Look for products that comply with UK medical device regulations and are available through reputable health retailers, pharmacies, and online platforms that operate within HFEA guidelines. Most fertility supplements and lubricants sold through major UK retailers have undergone safety testing, though they are typically classified as food supplements rather than medicines. Always check product labelling for registration information and consider purchasing from established retailers or those recommended by NHS fertility clinics.
